Emergency Medicine

Pre-hospital care and emergency services which are provided around the clock are concerned with health problems which have high rates of mortality and morbidity.

The knowledge and experience gained by war medicine and disaster medicine has shown that establishing specialized systems and training healthcare professionals specializing in emergency care improve medical outcomes.

Approximately 40 years after the recognition of Emergency Medicine worldwide, this branch of medicine was accepted as a specialist branch in Turkey which began to be taught in 1993 as an assistantship.

Today, there are many clinics in universities and teaching hospitals that provide Emergency Medicine training. Since its foundation, the Department of Emergency Medicine has provided basic life support and other emergency care theory, practice and simulation education at the Acibadem University School of Medicine and the Emergency and First Aid Program of the Vocational School of Health.
