History

Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University, was established as a foundation university with a legal personality by Acıbadem Health and Education Foundation, depending on the Additional Article 74 added to the Law on the Organization of Higher Education Institutions dated 28 March 1983 and numbered 2809, with the 1st article of the Law numbered 5656 published in the Official Gazette dated May 18, 2007 and numbered 26526.

In the 2009-2010 academic year, in its first temporary campus located in Maltepe Gülsuyu, it started education activities by taking first students to the seven programs in School of Medicine, Nursing, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Health Management Departments of Faculty of Health Sciences and Health Services Vocational School.

In the following years, Departments of Psychology, Molecular Biology & Genetics, Sociology of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Medical Engineering, Faculty of Pharmacy, Biomedical Device Technology and Cookery Programs of the Vocational School, other programs of the Vocational School of Health Services and Health Sciences, Science and Social Sciences Institutes, Senology Research Institute became operational and associate, undergraduate and graduate programs were opened.

The name of Acıbadem University was changed to Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University with the law numbered 7033, published in the Official Gazette dated July 01, 2017 and numbered 30111, on commemorating the founder of the University, Acıbadem Health and Education Foundation, and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees Mehmet Ali Aydınlar.
