- At Acıbadem University, permission must be obtained from ACU-HADYEK before any procedures involving laboratory animals can be carried out. No approval certificate will be issued for studies that are initiated without prior approval from ACU-HADYEK.
- For any national or international scientific publication, the ACU-HADYEK protocol number and the statement “Ethical Committee approval has been obtained” must be included.
- Only projects to be conducted at ACU-DEHAM will be evaluated by ACU-HADYEK.
- Requests for permission and approval to ACU-HADYEK must be submitted to the ACU-HADYEK Secretariat with the completion of the “Acıbadem University Animal Experiments Local Ethics Committee Application Form”. When applying for permission and approval from ACU-HADYEK, the “undertaking letter” prepared by the Ministry of Forest and Water Affairs, General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks must be signed and attached to the application.
- Applications are made by the most senior staff members responsible for conducting the experiments. In thesis work, the supervisor is the thesis advisor faculty member. For other research projects, the research supervisor must be a faculty member.
- Applications are reviewed in the order they are received. ACU-HADYEK will evaluate the applications and provide a decision: “appropriate”, “requires correction”, “conditionally appropriate”, or “inappropriate”. In necessary cases, the committee may seek written opinions from experienced specialists and invite them to the meeting for oral input.
- If a decision is made to correct the application, the application will be re-evaluated after corrections are made by the applicant. The final decision will be made based on whether the corrections meet the required conditions.
- If a project receives a “conditionally appropriate” decision in the initial submission or after corrections, the project will be monitored for the specified duration, and the committee will decide whether the specified conditions have been met, making a final decision of either “appropriate” or “inappropriate”.
- After local ethics committee approval is obtained for an experimental research project, any changes in the project or in the participants must be reported in writing to the local ethics committees, and approval must be obtained.
- No protocol changes may be made without ACU-HADYEK approval. If protocol changes not approved by ACU-HADYEK are implemented, the study will be halted.
The approval from ACU-HADYEK is valid only for the topic and duration specified in the approved protocol. For projects that cannot be completed within the specified time, an extension must be requested.
