The Department of Neurosurgery at Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University Faculty of Medicine has been actively working since the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine in 2009. It provides world-class services in the diagnosis and treatment of adult and pediatric brain tumours, spine/spinal cord tumours, spinal degeneration, congenital malformations of the central nervous system, epilepsy, spasticity, movement disorders, and peripheral nerve pathologies.
A tumour tissue bank database within our clinic has enabled the execution of numerous projects, especially in the field of oncology, and significant contributions have been made to global literature in this area. In light of these findings, in addition to standard treatment, the most up-to-date treatment options available worldwide are offered to brain tumour patients diagnosed in our clinic.
Multidisciplinary neuro-oncology, cerebral palsy, spasticity, craniosynostosis, movement disorders, and spine councils bring together specialists from various fields to discuss patients individually and provide the most appropriate treatments.
Our clinic provides medical education and residency training in neurosurgery at the Faculty of Medicine. Current theoretical and practical knowledge is provided to students in these training programmes. Additionally, an “international fellowship” programme is held each year in our clinic, accepting at least four neurosurgeons from various parts of the world. The clinic also runs research group activities for Faculty of Medicine students aimed at providing practical experience in basic presentation skills, academic principles, and the steps for academic article writing.
Our clinic is a renowned reference centre in Turkey and around the world, both in educational activities and in diagnosis and treatment. The publication of six books by our department abroad is proof of this recognition.
