The academic staff members of the Department of Urology teach all modern diagnostic and treatment services in the fields of minimally invasive treatments of stones and prostate diseases, andrology and infertility, oncology, female urology and pediatric urology.
Stone diseases are treated using ESWL at 3 different hospitals while percutaneous nephrolithotomy, flexible ureterorenoscopy, TUR, greenlight and bipolar prostatectomy are used at all hospitals.
Cases such as radical prostatectomy, partial nephrectomy, pyeloplasty and adrenalectomy are studied using the da Vinci robotic system which is located in Acıbadem Maslak, Kadıköy, Bakırköy and Ankara Hospitals. Great importance is given to diagnostic procedures such as transrectal prostate biopsy and videourodynamics in daily applications.
Since 2010, the department has organized urology conferences attended by participants nationwide while applied flexible ureterorenoscopy courses have been organized for the last two years. Steps have been taken to implement robotic surgery courses within the surgical research unit located on the Kerem Aydınlar Campus of Acıbadem University and the course curriculum has begun. As a relatively new university, the number of papers and studies published by academic staff members in the SCI and their applications to TÜBİTAK projects increases daily.
