Acıbadem University School of Medicine is committed to educating competent physicians and proficient scientists. As outlined in our Strategic Plan, enhancing the productivity, quality, and impact of research within the Faculty of Medicine is one of our primary goals.
In addition to tracking traditional scientific impact, we aim to assess the societal impact of our research. This approach helps us increase the number of studies that meet community needs, lead to applicable products, or influence healthcare policies. To support this goal, we aim to raise the proportion of Q1–Q3 publications from the Faculty of Medicine to over 90%, achieve a Category Normalized Citation Impact (CNCI) of 1.2, increase collaborations with industry, and expand international partnerships.
Over the past five years, the faculty has produced an average of nearly 400 full-length articles or reviews annually, with 5–10% involving student participation. Approximately 60% of these publications appear in Q1 or Q2 journals, and the five-year CNCI is around 1.0, aligning with the global average. Strengthening national and international scientific collaborations remains a top priority to further support these goals.
Within the medical curriculum, student research is integrated into both required and elective courses and is credit-bearing. Beyond the curriculum, students are encouraged to join research groups to enhance their productivity—an important opportunity for those pursuing a career as scientists. Reflecting our students’ high academic potential, we have launched an integrated MD-PhD program, which has already admitted its first cohort.
To support and incentivize faculty research efforts, institutional resources have been established and implemented. These include publication support, statistical assistance, project development support, and more.
