The 7th Sector Meetings Focused on Clinical Research
The seventh edition of the Sector Meetings, organized by the Acıbadem University Center for Health Policy Research and Practice as part of its efforts to contribute to national and international health policies, was held under the theme of Clinical Research.
The panel, attended by Acıbadem University Rector Prof. Ahmet Şahin, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Yasemin Alanay, and faculty members, examined clinical research from public, private sector, and academic perspectives in Türkiye. The event also featured Prof. A. Yağız Üresin, President of the International Network of Clinical Research Centers; Gökhan Özkan, Molecular Biologist from the Clinical Trials Department of the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency; Dr. Birol Tibet, Specialist at the TÜSEB Institute of Health Policies of Türkiye; Dr. Ümit Dereli, Secretary General of the Association of Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies (AIFD); and Dr. Hasan Ersin Zeytin, Member of the R&D Working Group of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Türkiye and Director of Biotechnology Projects and New Product Evaluation at Nobel Pharmaceuticals.
The panel explored the past, present, and future of clinical research, highlighting the extensive expertise, multidisciplinary collaboration, and long-term commitment required to conduct high-quality clinical studies.
Clinical research comprises scientific studies conducted to generate medical knowledge, answer scientific questions, identify more effective methods for preventing and treating diseases, and evaluate the safety, efficacy, and potential side effects of new medicines, medical devices, diagnostic methods, and treatment approaches before they are introduced into routine clinical practice.
