Acıbadem University was founded in Istanbul as a foundation university in public legal entity nature by Acibadem Health and Education Foundation in accordance with additional clause 74, which was added by the 1st article of law number 5656 to Law on Organization of Higher Education Institutions, dated March 28th, 1983 and numerated 2809, upon being published and announced on the Federal Register, on May 18th, 2007 with issue number 26526.
