The Transition to Student-Centered Education Workshop II

The second edition of the workshop on the transition to student-centered education was held at Acıbadem University on June 6, 2023. The event took place in our university conference hall and attracted a total of 128 participants, including academics, administrative staff, and students. The workshop, aimed at implementing student-centered education at our university, was skillfully moderated by Assoc. Prof. Melike Şahiner, the Director of the Distance Education Practice and Research Center (UZEM). The workshop featured informative presentations by faculty members, who showcased exemplary studies from their respective departments.

 

Opening the workshop, our Vice Rector, Prof. Zeynep Güven, delivered an engaging speech, setting the tone for the first part of the event. In this segment, Assoc. Prof. Levent Altıntaş, the Head of the Department of Medical Education at the Faculty of Medicine, presented an enlightening talk entitled "What and How Do We Do in the Transition to Student-Centered Education?"

 

The second part of the workshop focused on practical examples of student-centered education. Esteemed speakers such as Assist. Prof. Nafiye Çiğdem Aktekin, Lect. Beyza Karacibioğlu, Lect. Serdar Duman, Lect. Emel Turan, Lect. Hande Kaba (PhD), Assist. Prof. Gözde Arıtıcı Çolak, Assist. Prof. Nihan Ünübol, Lect. Birce Buturak, Res. Assist. Ahmet Can Küçükkurt, Res. Assist. Emine Tuğba Yorulmaz, Prof. Fehime AKSUNGAR, Assist. Prof. Yasemin Uzuner, Assoc. Prof. Gülen Melike Demirbolat, Lect. Özge Kovan, and Assoc. Prof. Meltem Kolgazi delivered their insightful presentations.

 

The workshop concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, providing an opportunity for participants to engage with the speakers and share their thoughts. In addition, the event concluded with a general evaluation of the workshop's outcomes and achievements.
