The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University has been admitted to the European Federation of the Associations of Dietitians (EFAD) as an “Education Associate Member.” With this membership, our University has become one of four universities in Türkiye to be admitted as an EFAD Education Associate Member.
Supporting the advancement of the dietetics profession across Europe, EFAD works to promote common standards in education, research, and professional practice. Its Education Associate Membership brings together higher education institutions offering dietetics education and supports international academic collaboration as well as the exchange of knowledge and experience.
An Important Step in International Academic Collaboration
Through its EFAD membership, our Department of Nutrition and Dietetics aims to strengthen academic collaboration with higher education institutions across Europe, further develop its educational programs in line with international standards, and benefit from examples of good practice that contribute to enhancing professional competencies.
The membership is also expected to provide our students with opportunities to become familiar with dietetic practices in different countries, participate in international scientific events, and expand their professional networks.
“An Important Step Supporting Our Internationalization Goals”
Commenting on the membership, **Prof. Murat Baş, Head of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics**, emphasized the significance of EFAD membership in supporting the Department’s goals of internationalization and continuous improvement in education:
“We consider our EFAD membership an important step in supporting our Department’s goals of internationalization and continuous improvement in education. Education in nutrition and dietetics requires the integration of scientific knowledge with professional competencies, ethical responsibilities, and practical skills. We believe that interaction with educational institutions across Europe will contribute to evaluating and further developing our educational processes in light of diverse experiences.
We attach great importance to enabling our students to become familiar with the international dimension of their profession during their education. We aim to encourage them to follow dietetic practices and educational approaches in different countries, exchange knowledge through scientific events, and contribute to the future development of the profession.
For our academic staff, developing joint research projects, sharing educational experiences, and strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration are also among our key priorities.”
We congratulate Assoc. Prof. Gizem Ağır, a member of the Department’s leadership team, as well as its academic and administrative staff, on this achievement and wish them continued success.
