In order to protect and improve the health status of society, many changes have been made in Turkey’s healthcare sector, especially in recent years. As a result of these changes, the country’s healthcare sector has become a continuously growing, evolving, and increasingly competitive field. This development has led to a growing need for managers who possess the conceptual, analytical, and technical knowledge, skills, and abilities to develop more effective, efficient, and innovative solutions to the sector’s challenges—and even to lead the sector forward.
The main goal of the Department of Health Management is to contribute to the education of healthcare managers and leaders who can take on roles at all levels of institutions and organizations within the healthcare sector.
The Health Management program is designed in a way that enables students to express themselves easily not only in Turkey but also in countries such as the United States, Canada, and European Union countries. The curriculum has been developed in line with the expectations of international accreditation bodies for similar programs, enabling graduates to find employment opportunities both in Turkey and abroad.
A fundamental difference between our Health Management program and similar programs in Turkey and many other countries is that our students begin hands-on practical training starting in their second year—primarily in hospitals and other healthcare institutions. In this context, students participate in mandatory field practice one day per week during their second and third years, and three days per week during their fourth year.
Additionally, students complete a 20-day summer internship focused on a specific field (such as finance, marketing, quality, or patient services), strengthening their education through a balance of theory and practice. This hands-on training not only facilitates the job-seeking process after graduation but also gives students a competitive edge by providing real-world experience.
In this regard, a collaborative project was launched in 2018 between Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University and Acıbadem Healthcare Group as part of the İŞKUR On-the-Job Training Program. The project allows final-year students to work in their desired departments and fields during their last three months. Among those who applied to participate in the program, 50% were required to work at Acıbadem Healthcare Group after graduation. As a result of this project, 16 students were employed in 2018 and 20 in 2019.
In conclusion, the Health Management Department at Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University offers a structured and supportive path for its graduates to enter the professional world.
