Biostatistics and bioinformatics are the most important fields, which bring scientific approaches to the solution of modern health problems. These two fields aim to generate stochastic and analytical solutions, respectively, for problems in medicine and life sciences. Along with their coinciding aspects, these two fields have differential features as well. Today’s technological developments, especially the developments in new age sequencing, transcriptomic, proteomic and in other omic technologies enable collection of substantial amount of data. In addition, hospitals’ electronic health records are rich databases, thus they contain substantial amount of data. Advanced biostatistic and bioinformatic methods are needed to be developed in order to adapt and utilize these types of data in customized medical perspective, diagnosis and treatment, in understanding the mechanism of disease formation and in early diagnosis. In this program, we aim to teach these two scientific approaches together. We believe that this is important because the scientists, who can attain these skills all together, would contribute a lot to the development of science in Turkey. There are very few examples of the program we recommend in the world, while there is none in Turkey.
