Acıbadem University fourth-year Nursing Department students carried out an important awareness event titled Breast Health Education on November 20, 2025. The event was organized by the Pink Touch Team—students who volunteer with the Turkish Breast Foundation (MEVA): Nazar Köse, Sudenaz Akgün, Özben Çorman, Sema Sedanur Reşitoğlu, Yağmur Erçetin, Şevval Demirtaş, Ayşegül Orhan, Hilal Günal, and Şahsenem Acaray—under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bahire Ulus, a faculty member of the Nursing Department.
The purpose of the training, held for women living in the Tolgahan Residence in the Tuzla district of Istanbul, was to address gaps in knowledge regarding breast health and to raise awareness about the importance of early diagnosis.
The event began with a one-hour Zumba session led by dance instructor Sema Çelik. This energetic start created a lively atmosphere, allowing participants to enjoy the activity while staying motivated for the remainder of the program.
Following the Zumba session, MEVA volunteer and fourth-year nursing student Nazar Köse delivered a breast health education session. The training covered essential topics such as the prevalence of breast cancer in women, the importance of screening for early diagnosis, and Breast Self-Examination (BSE). The presentation concluded with an interactive Q&A session enriched by participants’ questions.
With a total of 33 participants, the event was regarded as a productive gathering that combined physical activity with education, emphasizing the importance of healthy lifestyle habits and preventive health behaviors.
