The International Student Congress on the Dream of Migration in Higher Education, organized by the Student Dean’s Office of Istanbul Aydın University on May 12–13, 2026, brought together researchers, students, and academics to discuss student mobility in higher education from academic, social, and political perspectives.
The congress aimed to examine the reasons why domestic students pursue educational opportunities abroad and the motivations behind international students’ decisions to choose Türkiye as a study destination. It also sought to raise awareness of educational migration and foster interdisciplinary scientific contributions in the field. By evaluating global student mobility within the context of higher education systems, the congress aimed to develop strategic recommendations for improving the quality of higher education based on findings derived from student experiences.
Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University was represented at the congress through both student presentations and academic contributions.
On the first day of the congress, Nurana Vepakulyyeva, a second-year student in the School of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, presented the paper entitled “Student Life Beyond Borders: The Adaptation Experience of an International Nursing Student During the Educational Migration Process.” The study was prepared under the supervision of Dr. Merve Coşkun and Lecturer Eslem Altıntaş and was included in the first session program held on May 12, 2026.
On the second day of the congress, Lecturer Selçuk Marangoz, Director of Health, Culture, and Sports at Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University, and Prof. Dr. Gülfer Bektaş presented the paper entitled “Building Campus Culture: University Life Integrated with Student Clubs.” The presentation focused on the role of student clubs in university life, students’ sense of belonging, and the development of campus culture.
Also on the second day, Dunia Aivazova, a second-year student in the Department of Health Management, presented the paper entitled “Türkiye: Migration Dreams and Realities,” prepared under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ayça Kurtoğlu from the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The presentation was delivered within a session addressing migration experiences in the context of educational migration and student mobility toward Türkiye.
