ALIS26 Oncoverse Brought Together Pioneers of Cancer Research at Acıbadem University

The ninth annual A Look into Science Congress (ALIS), organized by the students of Acıbadem University School of Medicine, was held between May 15–17, 2026, at the Acıbadem University Conference Hall under the title “ALIS26 – Oncoverse: Horizons in Cancer.”

The congress brought together internationally renowned scientists and experts in the field of oncology, hosting distinguished speakers including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Canan Dağdeviren from MIT Media Lab, Prof. Dr. James Welsh from MD Anderson Cancer Center, Prof. Dr. John Maher from King’s College London, Dr. Marc van de Wetering from the Princess Máxima Center, Prof. Dr. Maria Rescigno from Humanitas University, Prof. Dr. Nico Karssemeijer from Radboud University Medical Center, Prof. Dr. Lorenzo Galluzzi from Fox Chase Cancer Center, Prof. Dr. İhsan Ekin Demir from the Technical University of Munich, and Prof. Dr. Güralp Ceyhan from Acıbadem University.

Throughout the three-day congress, participants attended scientific sessions, presentations, and workshops focusing on current developments and future perspectives in cancer research and oncology. The event attracted considerable attention from both participants and members of the press.

In addition to the scientific program, the congress also featured social and inspirational sessions. Actress Canan Ergüder shared her personal experiences and journey during her battle with cancer, while former Turkish national football player Nuri Şahin delivered an inspirational talk addressing the responsibilities of competing in internationally recognized football clubs at a young age and the reflections of those experiences on his professional and personal life.

The congress concluded with a gala dinner held in Çubuklu, where guests enjoyed a musical performance by singer Selin. On the final day, awards were presented to students whose scientific projects were recognized within the scope of the AIMS Awards.
