On May 18, 2023, our university's conference hall was filled with music as we celebrated the 16th anniversary with the enchanting "1 Tenor 1 Soprano" Concert.
The event was graced by the presence of esteemed individuals, including our Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mehmet Ali Aydınlar, our esteemed Rector, Prof. Ahmet Şahin, our Vice-Rectors, Prof. Güldal Süyen, and Prof. İrfan Güney, as well as our General Secretary, Mustafa Can Bakır. Alongside them, our university faculty members, students, employees of Acıbadem Health Group, and numerous distinguished guests gathered to enjoy this remarkable concert. Prof. İrfan Güney, in his opening speech, set the tone for the evening.
The concert showcased a group of exceptional musicians, composed of former students of our Vice-Rector, Prof. İrfan Güney, during his tenure at Marmara University in the year 2000. Taking the stage were Berk Özbek, a talented tenor from the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet, and Assoc. Prof. Tuğçem Aslan Kar who is a soprano and a respected faculty member of ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory. Accompanying them were Assoc. Prof. Alper Akgül from Kocaeli University on the piano, Dr. Mehmet Ali Açıksöz on the trumpet, and Recep Kaan Kar on the guitar. The concert offered a diverse repertoire, ranging from world music to cherished classical compositions. Among the highlights were the acclaimed compositions "Nasılsın" and "Sarı Karanfil," both bearing the signature of our Vice-Rector, Prof. Güney.
The concert, which garnered an enthusiastic audience, culminated with a delightful cake-cutting ceremony in honor of our university's 16th anniversary.
