Purpose of the Training
This program is designed to enable participants to:
- Understand the different types of exercise and their physiological effects.
- Learn about performance assessments and performance tests used in athlete evaluation.
- Understand the methods used to assess the nutritional status of athletes.
- Determine athletes' energy, macronutrient, micronutrient, and fluid requirements based on their sport, training level, age, sex, and body composition, and tailor these requirements according to training periods and schedules.
- Learn about ergogenic aids used to maintain athlete health and enhance performance, including their definitions, safety, and evidence-based recommendations for use.
- Identify the specific nutritional requirements of special athlete populations, including adolescents, children, and athletes with diabetes.
- Understand the nutritional considerations during travel, training camps, tournaments, and other competition-related periods.
- Calculate athletes' energy and macronutrient requirements before, during, and after training.
- Learn appropriate nutritional strategies for special situations that affect performance, such as sports injuries.
- Understand the importance of nutrition in exercise and immune function.
- Explore current topics in sports nutrition, including sustainability, intuitive eating, eating disorders, and mindfulness.
- Learn about the nutritional requirements of Paralympic athletes.

- Third- and fourth-year students in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics
- Registered Dietitians
Course Content
The program is delivered through distance learning.
Duration: 12 weeks
Course materials and lectures will be made available through the Learning Management System (LMS). Live online Q&A sessions will be held throughout the program.
