Biochemistry is a science field which studies chemical reactions that take place in organisms and it is one of health and life sciences’ keystones. Besides traditional disciplines like molecular biology, cellular biology and enzyme biology, Biochemistry Science also involves newer scientific areas suc as geonomics, proteomics and bioinformatics. Biochemistry Science’s main area of interest is the study of changes seen in biomolecule levels (e.g. RNA, DNA, protein) during normal and pathological states of the organism. Therefore, biochemistry science plays an important role in identfying the causes of diseases and curing them, as well as producing the medications and determining their targets. Our department’s undergraduate courses aim to provide theoretical and practical education of basic biochemistry knowledge which is essential to understand physiological and pathological incidents and the effects of the drugs towards living creatures. Moreover, for the diagnosis and follow-up of the diseases, students are presented biological tests which are run on biological materials and drugs which interfere with these tests.

In addition, within the scope of biochemistry science, our masters and PhD programs’ advanced theoretical and practical courses, along with the seminars aim to educate knowledgable researchers and academicians.
