Medical Microbiology is a science of identifying microorganisms that cause disease in humans. Structure and classification, reproductive characteristics, pathogenic mechanisms, diagnostic methods and antimicrobial agents of the microorganisms are the main areas of study.

In Medical Microbiology, where pathogenic microorganisms that cause major infectious diseases are examined, researches that will reveal the relations of various diseases and/or syndromes with microorganisms and to develop diagnostic methods are among the other study subjects of Medical Microbiology.

With the proposed master's program, it is aimed that candidates will work in the field of microbiology at international standards with the latest technology and scientific research methods.

After the master’s degree, the graduates are welcomed to proceed in the doctorate programme to take a place in variable fields of Medical Microbiology as in industry, academics.
