Organ failure is an increasingly significant public health problem. Despite this growing need, many healthcare institutions in Türkiye are still unable to provide timely and appropriate diagnosis and treatment for patients with organ failure.
Founded in 2007, Acıbadem University aims to address the country's need for highly qualified healthcare professionals who possess advanced knowledge, effectively utilize technology, conduct scientific research, and drive innovation in the health sciences. A key factor in establishing all units within the University as research-oriented centers that educate highly skilled professionals is the strong infrastructure of the Acıbadem Healthcare Group, which has been delivering high-quality, reliable healthcare services for many years.
Since October 11, 2010, the Acıbadem Healthcare Group has been providing advanced diagnostic and treatment services for patients with organ failure through its Organ Transplantation Center, adopting a multidisciplinary approach in line with international standards. The Center for Organ Transplantation Research and Practice at Acıbadem University officially commenced its activities following its publication in the Official Gazette (No. 28103) on November 2, 2011.
The Center aims to:
- Perform all types of tissue and organ transplantation at contemporary international standards through collaboration among the relevant faculties, departments, and units of Acıbadem University.
- Introduce the latest developments in tissue and organ transplantation to Türkiye.
- Conduct both basic and applied scientific research in the field of transplantation.
- Develop innovative transplantation techniques and methodologies.
- Contribute to organ procurement and transplantation activities.
- Promote public awareness of organ donation and transplantation through educational and outreach initiatives targeting all segments of society.
