Neuroradiology and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a rapidly advancing discipline within the medical sciences, supported by state-of-the-art technologies and advanced imaging systems. Over many years, the faculty members of our University's Departments of Neurosurgery, Neurological Sciences, Radiology, and Pathology have accumulated extensive expertise through clinical practice, patient care, surgical services, and research. This wealth of knowledge has resulted in numerous internationally recognized publications and books.
To further strengthen research in the fields of neurological sciences and neuroradiology and to promote the generation and dissemination of scientific knowledge, the Center for Neuroradiology Research and Practice was established within our University in September 2011.
The Center's primary areas of focus in the near future are summarized below:
- Conducting clinical studies using advanced MRI sequences, including Susceptibility-Weighted Imaging (SWI) and Arterial Spin Labeling (ASL).
- Investigating sequence optimization and contrast agent applications in intraoperative MRI.
- Conducting research on cellular pathology and brain tumors using Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS).
- Performing central and peripheral nervous system research through Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) and fiber tractography.
- Conducting psychiatric research using functional MRI (fMRI).
- Training qualified researchers in advanced MRI techniques and organizing courses and seminars in these fields.
- Contributing to the graduate programs offered by the Acıbadem Institute of Health Sciences.
- Providing technical and practical support for research projects utilizing high-field Tesla MRI systems throughout Türkiye.
