VI. Student Congress of the School of Medicine: ALIS (A Look Into Science)

ALIS (A Look Into Science) is an annual international scientific student congress that takes place at Acıbadem University's School of Medicine. Organized by the students themselves, the congress aims to reach diverse audiences and explore current topics in the field of healthcare by selecting a different theme each year. The 6th edition of the congress, held from May 5th to May 7th, 2023, offered a comprehensive program of scientific and social activities for the participants.

Under the theme of "The Evolution of Treatment: Surgical and Interventional Approaches," the congress attracted approximately 600 attendees from 10 different countries and various regions across Turkey. The program featured eight scientific sessions covering topics such as "Advancements in Chronic Pancreatitis Treatment," "Melanoma: A Multidisciplinary Approach," "Current Multidisciplinary Approach in Rectal Tumors," "Recent Developments in Ophthalmology," "Brain Tumors and Epilepsy," "Congenital Pulmonary Malformations," "New Approaches in Urology," and "Cardiovascular Medicine." These sessions included 37 speakers who delivered insightful and innovative presentations. Taking place in two sessions, some of the workshops were held at our university's state-of-the-art Clinical Simulation and Advanced Endoscopic-Robotic Surgical Training Center (CASE), offering participants a valuable opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills in both scientific and social aspects. Additionally, the social speaker session, featuring the presence of Denizcan Aktaş, brought moments of entertainment and enjoyment.

In addition to the scientific and social sessions, the congress provided a platform for students from various faculties to present their research through oral presentations. Moreover, as part of the AIMS (Acıbadem University International Medical Students) Awards project, which was initiated last year with the support of the School of Medicine Dean's Office and organized for the second time this year, the top 10 students who made it to the finals had the opportunity to showcase their work. Following a rigorous evaluation process by the jury, the award ceremony was held, with the winners being honored by Prof. Güldal Süyen, the Vice Rector of Acıbadem University, and Prof. Şahin Şenay, the Vice Dean of the School of Medicine and a faculty advisor for the congress. Similarly, the students who excelled in the poster presentations were recognized and awarded by Prof. Güldal Süyen, Prof. Şahin Şenay, and Kaan Mert Güven, a member of the Board of Directors of the Acıbadem University School of Medicine Alumni Association.
