MyMagiCon, which was developed as a result of two years of research at our University's Incubation Center, takes gargle and mouthwash samples for PCR and antigen tests instead of nasopharyngeal swab samples taken from the nose. The reliability of MyMagiCon, developed by the Head of the Department of Medical Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Tanıl Kocagöz and Head of Medical Engineering Department Prof. Dr. Özge Can and his research team, has been scientifically proven. MyMagiCon, for which national and international patent applications have been made, is the first in the world.

MyMagiCon, which has been approved by the Turkish Ministry of Health, Turkish Public Health Institution and has CE and ISO13485 certificates, has started to be implemented in Acıbadem Altunizade and Acıbadem Maslak Hospitals. Stating that this new method detects Covid-19 equally or more sensitively than the nasopharyngeal swab sample taken from the nose, Prof. Dr. Tanıl Kocagöz stated that with this method, children -even if they are too young to gargle - can give a sample with mouthwash.

Stating that MyMagiCon is the result of intense work, Prof. Dr. Kocagöz and Prof. Dr. Can thanked the Clinical Microbiology Expertise Association (KLİMUD) researchers who contributed to this process, Health Sciences Institute Medical Biotechnology Faculty Member Erkan Mozioğlu and his graduate students Ece Aksoy, Tuba Polat and Betül Zehra Karakuş. Also, emphasizing the importance of university-industry cooperation, Prof. Dr. Tanıl Kocagöz stated that the detailed information can be found on the websites of the R&D company located in Acıbadem University Incubation Center www.gigabiomol.com and investor firm www.bio-t.org.
