Fourth Sociology Colloquium event, organized by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Department of Sociology, “Rethinking Cooperatives in the 21st Century: Agricultural Producer and Consumer Cooperatives in Turkey” took place on 5th February 2019.
Turkey’s current agricultural issues and cooperatives as a solution were discussed with Assoc. Prof. Çağatay Edgücan Şahin as the guest speaker.
Assoc. Prof. Çağatay Edgücan Şahin graduated from Uludağ University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations in 2003, finished his Master’s degree in 2005 and Ph.D. in 2009 at Marmara University Institute of Social Sciences Department of Labor Economics. In 2015-2016, Assoc. Prof. Şahin was a guest faculty member at the City University of New York Graduate Center and continued his work there with the support from TÜBİTAK’s Post-Doctoral Research Programme. Currently, he is a faculty member at Ordu University Ünye Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations. His main interests include labor market projects, social policies and alternative economies.
