Degree-seeking international students can apply to undergraduate and associate degree programs on the condition that they satisfy the minimum requirements. Please read the page carefully and provide your application on time.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR DEGREE-SEEKING INTERNATIONAL STUDENT STATUS?

ELIGIBILITY:

Foreign students are admitted to the institutions of higher education in Turkey on condition that applicants fulfill the requirements for student admission determined by the relevant institution of higher education and approved by the Council of Higher Education

An international candidate who is currently enrolled as a senior in high school, or who has already received a high school diploma, will be considered provided that he/she:

1. is a foreign national

2. holds a foreign nationality, is a Turkish citizen by birth, but by courtesy of the Ministry of Interior has ceased to be a Turkish citizen; or was registered as a minor on the document indicating that the parent has relinquished Turkish citizenship and who can certify that he/she holds an official document regarding the use of rights granted by Turkish Citizenship Law (According to Article 7 of the 5901 Turkish Citizenship Law, (1) “Children born to married Turkish parents, in Turkey or abroad, are considered as Turkish Citizens.” Applicants who apply from abroad should refer to the Turkish Citizenship Law).

3. is a foreign national who has taken Turkish /dual citizenship within this context

4. a) is a Turkish citizen who started high school before 01/02/2013, completing the last three years of his/her high school education in a foreign country other than the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, (TRNC) (including those who have completed their high school education in a Turkish high school in a foreign country other than TRNC)

b) the candidate who started high school after 01/02/2013 completing his/her entire high school education in a foreign country other than the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), (including those who have completed their high school education in a Turkish high school in a foreign country other than TRNC) may apply to foreign countries’ admission quotas.

5. is a TRNC citizen residing in TRNC, with a high school diploma from TRNC and has taken the GCE AL exam, or a TRNC citizen with a high school diploma from a country other than TRNC between 2005-2010 and has taken, or is planning to take, the GCE AL exam.

NOT ELIGIBLE, those who:

1. have TR citizenship and have completed their entire high school education in Turkey or in TRNC

2. have TRNC citizenship (excluding those with a high school diploma from TRNC and have taken the GCE AL exam or a TRNC citizen with a high school diploma from a country other than TRNC between 2005-2010 and have taken, or are planning to take, the GCE AL exam)

3. have dual citizenship but whose first citizenship is Turkish as defined in Clause 2 of Article a (excluding those who satisfy conditions in Clause 4 of Article a)

4. have TRNC citizenship as one of their dual nationalities (excluding those with a high school diploma from TRNC and have taken the GCE AL exam or a TRNC citizen with a high school diploma from a country other than TRNC between 2005-2010 and have taken, or are planning to take, the GCE AL exam)

5. hold Turkish Nationality or were born into Turkish Nationality first but who also possess a second nationality according to Clause 2 of Article a , who have studied in the high schools belonging to Foreign Embassies or studied in international high schools in Turkey

YOU CAN APPLY WITH YOUR NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA GRADES TOO; ACCEPTABLE DIPLOMA GRADE FOR SCHOOL OF MEDICINE IS MINIMUM 80/100, FOR OTHER PROGRAMS MINIMUM 60/100. HOWEVER, WITH ONE OF THE SCORES OUTLINED ABOVE, ADMISSION CHANCES ARE HIGHER.

There are no limitations on the validity period of exams which are in the status of high school final examinations (ABITUR, MATURA, International Baccalaureate, GCE, Tawjii, etc.). The validity period of the exams with the status of university entrance exam (SAT, ACT, etc.) is two years.

*Meeting the application requirement does not offer an automatic acceptance. Each application will be evaluated for final decision if all required documents are submitted. 

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY 

1. Students are required to provide evidence of their English language level for English taught programs.

2. Applicants from countries, other than the mother language of the country is English, can provide their English proficiency with the recognized exam score listed below (exam results should be within their two-year validity period at the time of registration.)

3. Prospective students must submit the original equivalent English Proficiency results at the registration and. are not required to take the ACEPT (Acıbadem University English Proficiency Test).

4. Students, who fail to submit any proof of their English level are required to take the ACEPT (Acıbadem University English Proficiency Test) and must obtain at least the minimum passing grade determined by the Senate.

5. Students who cannot meet proficiency requirements are required to attend the English Preparatory Program.

*Those students, who are registered to a Turkish taught program, have to prove their English proficiency level to be able to exempt from academic English courses. 

**Be aware that only those TOEFL exam results taken from public universities will be accepted.

TURKISH PROFICIENCY 

Students, who apply to Turkish-medium degree programs, must prove their Turkish proficiency before registration.

1. For Bachelor degrees, students who obtained at least C1 level score and for Associate degrees, who obtained at least B2 in the Turkish Proficiency Examinations administered by TÖMER, Yunus Emre Institute or any other examination centers accredited by the Higher Education Council can start their degree programs.

2. The Turkish proficiency requirement is not applicable to those students who have studied and completed their secondary education in a Turkish-medium high school in Turkey.

3. School of Medicine students will be asked to prove their Turkish language proficient as of their 3rd year, because Turkish proficiency is required for their clinical study terms at the hospital. Students, who fail to prove their Turkish proficiency, will not be allowed to continue to their 4th year clinical studies.

4. Student who registered to Turkish programs must prove their Turkish proficiency level within two years, otherwise they will be deregistered. 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR APPLICATION

Please submit electronic version of all required documents during your application.

Please provide notarized translations of your documents if they are in any language other than English and Turkish. 

  • Application Form (Please fill the form in a readable way)
  • Copy of your Passport with personal information page on it. If you don’t have a valid international passport at the time of application, please provide a copy of your national ID
  • Copy of an official document certifying successful completion of high school (diploma or school leaving certificate) if available at the time of application. If not available, provide any document demonstrating your education status
  • Copy of an official high school transcript showing all your courses taken during your high school study
  • Exam results if you are applying with an exam (national or internationally recognized), such as SAT
  • Copy of English language proficiency exam if available
  • Copy of Turkish language proficiency exam for Turkish taught degree programs
  • Letter of Intent
  • Reference Letter

  • Depending on the program type, extra documents might be asked. 
  • Electronic (scan) versions of all required documents are requested during application; however, you have to bring original versions for the registration. 
  • Applications with missing documents will not be taken into consideration. It is the applicant’s responsibility to send the complete and accurate required documents on time.

APPLICATION EVALUATION PROCESS 

Once the candidate provides all the required documents, his/her application will be processed by the relevant departments as soon as possible. 

ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULTS

Result of evaluations will be sent to the candidate via e-mail provided in the application form.

  • If the application is accepted, the candidate will be sent a Pre-acceptance letter via e-mail initially. The student, who is provided a pre-acceptance letter, is expected to make the compulsory pre-payment (1000 USD) as soon as possible. Only those, who have made their pre-payment, will be provided an Official Acceptance letter and only those, who are provided an official acceptance letter following their pre-payment, will be able to register.
  • The pre-payment is non-refundable. However, if your visa application is denied, you can request your advance payment back with a proof of rejection taken from the consulate. Any reasons other than visa rejection will not be considered. 
  • The pre-payment is considered as a guaranty of student’s intent and will be deducted from the tuition fee during registration. Please send your payment receipt to international.admissions@acibadem.edu.tr as soon as you make your payment. 

THE UNIVERSITY WILL OFFER A SEAT ONLY TO THOSE WHO HAVE MADE THEIR PRE-PAYMENT, BEAR IN MIND THAT WE HAVE LIMITED SEATS!! 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR REGISTRATION

The following documents must be submitted within the registration dates. Students, who fail to complete the application process within the given dates, forfeit their right to education at Acıbadem University.

1. Copy of identification card:

  • Turkish and/or TRNC nationals and Blue Card holders: a double sided copy of the ID card,
  • International students: a copy the personal information page of the passport. Students, who currently hold a valid residence permit, should also provide the copy of the permit

2. Original High school diploma (School Leaving Certificate/Testimonial) and certified translation in Turkish or English,

3. Original copy of exam results submitted during application,

4. Equivalency Certificate: The equivalency letter states that your high school diploma/certificate is equivalent to those obtained in Turkey. This can be obtained from the Turkish Embassy/Consulate in your country. Bear in mind that not every Turkish consulate issues Equivalency Certificate. You can also obtain it from the Provincial Director of National Education in Istanbul (Please obtain the equivalency letter before coming to enrollment if possible, yet, bear in mind that this process might take at least a week). Rules and regulations regarding the equivalence letter are subject to change as it is managed by the Turkish Ministry of Education. Please bear in mind that, students, who get equivalence rejection, cannot register, and registered ones will lose the right of studying.

6. 6 portrait photographs (including name and surname written on reverse side, 4,5× 6cm size, taken during last 6 months and easily recognizable ),

7. Passport page that includes photo and identity information and student's visa page.

8. Receipt of tuition fee from the bank,

9. Any provided language exam result (English or Turkish)

RESIDENCE PERMIT AND HEALTH INSURANCE 

  • Students need to visit the Turkish Embassy or a Consulate with the acceptance letter to be received from the University. Though varying from country to country, you might need to acquire student visa which is only valid for a month. Students won’t be asked for a student visa during registration as every country has a different implication for student visa. PLEASE double check with the Turkish consulate in your country as soon as you have your document. 
  • Bear in mind that every student has to obtain a student residence permit once they get registered. You must obtain a student residence permit appointment from Provincial Directorates of Migration Management shortly after you enter the country. (Read the details: http://www.goc.gov.tr/main/Eng_3) 
  • By Turkish Law, a comprehensive health insurance is obligatory for international students to be able to obtain residence permit. If you don’t have a valid health insurance at the time of your application to the Provincial Directorates of Migration Management, you will be given 3 months to obtain and submit a copy of the health insurance. 
  • Students, who hold a residence permit obtained outside of Istanbul, must transfer their residence files to Istanbul from the relevant city as soon as they complete their registration to the university.
  • Students who hold a Blue Card are not required to obtain a residence permit.
