Application Requirements for International Students

Foreign nationals or the candidates who are graduates of a high school equivalent to Turkish high schools could apply to undergraduate and associate degree programs on condition that they meet the following requirements:

General Requirements

The following criteria are quoted from the Higher Education Council Legislation.

Eligible applicants

An international candidate who is currently enrolled as a senior in high school, or who has already received a high school diploma, will be considered provided that he/she: 

1. is a foreign national

2. holds a foreign nationality, is a Turkish citizen by birth, but by courtesy of the Ministry of Interior has ceased to be a Turkish citizen; or was registered as a minor on the document indicating that the parent has relinquished Turkish citizenship and who can certify that he/she holds an official document regarding the use of rights granted by Turkish Citizenship Law (According to Article 7 of the 5901Turkish Citizenship Law, (1) “Children born to married Turkish parents, in Turkey or abroad, are considered as Turkish Citizens.” Applicants who apply from abroad should refer to the Turkish Citizenship Law). 

3. is a foreign national who has taken Turkish /dual citizenship within this context 

4. a) is a Turkish citizen who started high school before 01/02/2013, completing the last three years of his/her high school education in a foreign country other than the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, (TRNC) (including those who have completed their high school education in a Turkish high school in a foreign country other than TRNC)
 
  b) the candidate who started high school after 01/02/2013 completing his/her entire high school education in a foreign country other than the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), (including those who have completed their high school education in a Turkish high school in a foreign country other than TRNC) may apply to foreign countries’ admission quotas.

5. is a TRNC citizen residing in TRNC, with a high school diploma from TRNC and has taken the GCE AL exam, or a TRNC citizen with a high school diploma from a country other than TRNC between 2005-2010 and has taken, or is planning to take, the GCE AL exam.

Ineligible applicants

Those who:
  1. have TR citizenship and have completed their entire high school education in Turkey or in TRNC 
  2. have TRNC citizenship (excluding those with a high school diploma from TRNC and have taken the GCE AL exam or a TRNC citizen with a high school diploma from a country other than TRNC between 2005-2010 and have taken, or are planning to take, the GCE AL exam) 
  3. have dual citizenship but whose first citizenship is Turkish as defined in Clause 2 of Article a (excluding those who satisfy conditions in Clause 4 of Article a) 
  4. have TRNC citizenship as one of their dual nationalities (excluding those with a high school diploma from TRNC and have taken the GCE AL exam or a TRNC citizen with a high school diploma from a country other than TRNC between 2005-2010 and have taken, or are planning to take, the GCE AL exam)
  5. hold Turkish Nationality or were born into Turkish Nationality first but who also possess a second nationality according to Clause 2 of Article a , who have studied in the high schools belonging to Foreign Embassies or studied in international high schools in Turkey

Acceptable Exams and Diplomas with Minimum Eligibility Scores and Grades

1. a) For programs taught in English

SAT I (Scholastic Aptitude Test - Reasoning)

Total minimum score of 1600 and at least 600 from Maths on the old SAT (In exams until 2016).Total minimum score of 1160 and at least 600 from Maths on the new SAT.

For Medical School; total minimum score of 2000 and at least 600 from Maths on the old SAT (In exams until 2016), total minimum score of 1400 and at least 600 from Maths on the new SAT.

GCE (General Certificate Education)

Minimum 3 "A Levels” in subjects at least one of which is relevant to the program applied for.

ACT (American College Testing)

Scientific Reasoning, Math, Composite a minimum total of 24 points, for Medical School at least 30 points.

IB (International Baccalaureate)

International Baccalaureate minimum diploma score of 30

ABITUR

Diploma grade maximum 2,5 points, for Medical School maximum 2,0 points.

Matura

Diploma grade maximum 2,5 points, for Medical School maximum 2,0 points.

Baccalaureate Français

Diploma grade minimum 12/20, for Medical School minimum 14/20 points.

Baccalaureate Libanais

Baccalaureate with a minimum diploma score of 15 out of 20 in Scientific Stream.

Tawjihi

Minimum 90 (average) from each course in Science Stream of Tevcih (Tawjihi) examinations

Marmara University Foreign Student Admission Examination

At least 60 points, for Medical School at least 75 points.

Ankara University Foreign Student Admission Examination

At least 60 points, for Medical School at least 75 points.

Istanbul University International Student Admission Examination

At least 60 points, for Medical School at least 75 points.


b) For programs taught in Turkish

2. There are no limitations on the validity period of exams which are in the status of high school final examinations (ABITUR, MATURA, International Baccalaureate, GCE, Tawjii, etc.). The validity period of the exams with the status of university entrance exam (SAT, ACT, etc.) is two years.

*ACEPT (Acıbadem University English Proficiency Test) final passing grade is 70. The students who have completed this exam successfully and students who have the required grades from the stated exams above are exempt from the preparatory programme. 

Required Documents for Application

  • Application form
  • High School Diploma, official document that shows completion of high school education, if high school diploma is not in English or Turkish; it must be translated into one of these languages 
  • Official transcript that shows candidates' high school courses and grades confirmed by high school administration together with the certified translation of the document if not in English or Turkish 
  • Equivalence certificate that may be obtained from TR Ministry of Education and Turkey Embassy in candidates' countries of origin 
  • Original or certified copy of exam results that are valid for application 
  • Acıbadem English Proficiency exam result or Equivalent Exams to Acıbadem University Proficiency Exam 
  • Passport 

Required Documents for Registration

The following application documents must be submitted within the registration dates. Students who fail to complete the application process forfeit their right to education at Acıbadem University.
  1. Original copy of exam results,
  2. High school diploma and certified translation in Turkish or English,
  3. Equivalency certificate of a high school diploma issued by the Turkish Republic Ministry of Education or relevant Turkish Embassy must also be submitted,
  4. Original transcript (if an approved copy is submitted),
  5. 6 portrait photographs (including name and surname written on reverse side, 4,5× 6cm size, taken during last 6 months and easily recognizable ),
  6. Passport page that includes photo and identity information and student's visa page (Visa may be obtained from the Turkish Embassy in students' country of origin by submitting an acceptance letter,),
  7. Receipt of tuition fee from the bank,
TÖMER document at  C1 level for  all universities and Yunus Emre Institute for Turkish educational programme. Students' Turkish proficiency is assessed by the university for English educational programmes or all universities' TÖMER certificate at B2 level is valid.

Note: Students should obtain General Health Insurance (GHI) by applying to the  Istanbul Provincial Directorate of the Social Security Institution/ Kadıköy Social Security Center within three months following the starting date of the course. Foreign students' general health insurance cannot be registered again in their education period if they do not apply within this three-month period.
